Refund Policy

SAPawn Marketplace Refunds

This Refund Policy applies to all purchases made through the SAPawn Marketplace at sapawn.co.za/shop. All amounts are in South African Rand (ZAR).

1. When You Are Entitled to a Refund

You may be entitled to a refund in the following circumstances:

1.1 Cooling-Off Period (Online Purchases)

In terms of Section 44 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, you may cancel an online purchase within 7 (seven) days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason. The item must be returned in its original condition, with all accessories and packaging.

1.2 Defective Goods

In terms of Section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, if goods are found to be defective, unsafe, or not of good quality within 6 (six) months of delivery, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund at the seller's reasonable discretion.

For second-hand goods, "defective" refers to faults not disclosed in the item listing or that render the item unfit for its intended purpose.

1.3 Item Unavailability

If an item becomes unavailable after payment has been received (for example, due to a police lock or administrative error), you will receive a full refund within 30 days.

1.4 Non-Delivery

If your item has not been delivered within the agreed timeframe and the seller cannot provide proof of dispatch or a revised delivery date, you are entitled to a full refund.

2. Administration Fee

Cancellations under the 7-day cooling-off period may attract a reasonable administration fee of up to 10% of the purchase price, as permitted by the Consumer Protection Act. This fee covers inspection, re-listing, and administrative costs.

3. How Refunds Are Processed

  • Refunds are processed via the original payment method used at checkout (credit card, debit card, or other method processed through PayGate)
  • Refunds are typically processed within 14 business days of the returned item being received and inspected by the selling shop
  • You will receive confirmation once the refund has been initiated
  • Your bank may take an additional 5–10 business days to reflect the refund in your account

4. Non-Refundable Items & Costs

  • Delivery/courier costs are non-refundable unless the return is due to a defective item or an error by the seller
  • Auction purchases are final and non-refundable (auction bids are binding)
  • Items that have been altered, damaged, or used after receipt are not eligible for refund
  • Items collected in person where the buyer inspected the goods before taking possession

5. How to Request a Refund

  1. Email accounts@sapawn.co.za with your order reference number, item description, and reason for refund
  2. Attach photographs if reporting a defect
  3. Our team will review your request and respond within 2 business days
  4. If approved, we will provide return instructions (if applicable)

6. Subscription Refunds

SAPawn software subscription payments (for pawn shop owners) are non-refundable for the current billing period. You may cancel at any time and retain access until the end of your paid period. See our Cancellation Policy for details.

7. Disputes

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of a refund request, please contact us at accounts@sapawn.co.za. You also have the right to approach the National Consumer Commission (www.thencc.gov.za) or the relevant consumer court in your province.
